A collaboration between the Weingart Center, a Los Angeles-based 501(c)(3) non-profit agency that provides supportive services to homeless individuals, and Chelsea Investment Corporation, one of the nation’s leading developers of affordable housing, the project will feature 228 studio apartments, forty-seven one-bedroom apartments, and three one-bedroom apartments for fulltime onsite managers.  With a commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly design, the project will achieve a Green Point Gold Certification at a minimum.

Executives from Los Angeles’ affordable housing industry break-ground on the Weingart Tower, an affordable housing initiative by California affordable housing architect AXIS.

In collaboration with Joseph Wong Design Architects, AXIS’s design for the building creates a welcoming community destination that redefines how shelter and community service spaces look and feel.  As part of a larger community plan to respectfully uplift L.A.’s Skid Row neighborhood with improved access to transit, bike paths and community-run retail spaces, the Weingart Tower’s design is envisioned to be a positive design catalyst in the local community while at the same time serving as a buffer for the neighborhood from nearby gentrifying development.
