Marriott San Mateo Hotel Renovation

Recently purchased by Oracle and centrally located between San Francisco International Airport and Silicon Valley, the San Mateo Marriott draws inspiration from both nearby sites while serving as a premier place for travelers to work and relax. This renovation project encompassed 477 guest rooms, plus a relocation of certain key areas to make the space more inviting and functional.

Location:

San Mateo, California

Scale:

477 guestrooms, and the complete renovation and redesign of the lobby, reception, and central public spaces

With a prime location near San Francisco International Airport, the San Mateo Marriott, recently purchased by Oracle, was expanded and renovated with design expertise from AXIS/GFA to better accommodate traveling guests and Oracle training sessions. The plans for this contemporary space drew inspiration from nearby Silicon Valley, with the ubiquitous red of Oracle present throughout the interior and exterior of the hotel.

A chief focus of this renovation project was the relocation of key spaces within the hotel to provide more accessibility and ease of movement. This included relocating the lobby market area and registrations desks, as well as a relocation of lobby restrooms to create more space for guests to meet up and collaborate.

With plenty of training and meeting space and 477 well-appointed guest rooms, the San Mateo Marriott renovation helped cement the hotel as a premier place to stay when flying in or out of SFO and satisfied Oracle’s need for a reliable training center. Interior design provided by Looney & Associates.
