San Francisco hotel architect AXIS/GFA design the latest hotel in Corte Madera

In February, the Corte Madera Town Council unanimously approved a proposed 149 room Residence Inn extended stay hotel designed by AXIS/GFA. Key to winning community support was AXIS/GFA’s distinctive design that takes its cues from local Marin County and Bay Area community influences, as well as public and community enhancements to an existing one acre pond that is the nesting site of many endangered bird species.

AXIS/GFA’s design for the hotel features an expansive two-story lobby that opens onto a generous outdoor terrace overlooking the pool. An indoor/outdoor bar will provide guests with comfortable seating options and exceptional views of Mt. Tamalpais. Other Residence Inn brand pillars including breakfast buffet, BBQ zone and games zone are woven into the plan as well. Additionally, the west wing of the ground floor includes 3,500 square feet of meeting space, as well as a patio for break-out and special events.

The approval by the local council is likely in part due to AXIS/GFA’s expertise and ability to help developers navigate the complexities of California’s thorough development approval process.

This momentous milestone culminates a multi-year effort on the part of the Renesson Hotel Group, the longtime owner of the property. Landscape architecture is by KLA, and interior design expertise is provided by Design Atelier.
