Construction begins on Los Angeles affordable housing architect AXIS/GFA’s Weingart Tower affordable housing project.

In last fall’s edition of The Praxis, we proudly announced that ground had broken on our Weingart Tower affordable housing project in Los Angeles. As one of the most significant and anticipated additions to Los Angeles’ affordable and supportive housing stocks in recent years, we’re happy to update that construction is now well underway on the 19-story tower in L.A.’s Skid Row neighborhood.

Construction on the Weingart Tower, a Los Angeles affordable housing project by Los Angeles affordable housing architect AXIS/GFA

A collaboration between the Weingart Center, a Los Angeles-based non-profit agency that provides supportive services to homeless individuals, and Chelsea Investment Corporation, one of the nation’s leading developers of affordable housing, the project will feature 228 studio apartments, forty-seven one-bedroom apartments, and three one-bedroom apartments for fulltime onsite managers. Designed in collaboration with Joseph Wong Design Associates, AXIS/GFA’s design for the building creates a welcoming community destination that redefines how shelter and community service spaces look and feel.

Visit our Weingart Center project page in our Affordable Housing portfolio to learn more about this development. For more on the Weingart Center and their worthwhile community programs, visit their site at www.weingart.org.
